Praise & Worship Night 2009 E-mail

by Nikki Kagawan

ImageOn October 24th, our Youth and College Career hosted the annual Praise & Worship Night.  We were blessed to fellowship and worship with groups from San Francisco, Sacramento, Vacaville, and Suisun.  Before the night got started, everyone was able to fellowship over food that was lovingly prepared by some of our parents.
The night began with the Youth Worship Team from Living Grace Fellowship.  They set the tone for the night with their high-energy worship set.  As the night went on, we were exposed to other forms of worship—Spoken Word by some members of our College Career, rap numbers by some members of Bayside of South Sacramento Church, and a visually impressive presentation from Emmanuel Christian Community Church.  We were also blessed with a worship set by FBCSF that prepared our hearts for the message.  Brother Mike Ebuen shared a message based on 2 Corinthians 10.  He reminded us that we must exemplify Christ in all of our dealings—especially when conflict arises.  Although we will never be able to avoid conflict in our lives, we must always be mindful that everything we do is an act of service and worship for Christ.  The night ended with the FBCV Youth Worship Team.  They closed the night with an encouraging worship set that left us feeling refreshed and energized to live lives of worship. Thank you to each individual who helped contributes time, resources, and talent to help Imagemake the night a blessing to all who attended.  It is encouraging to know that our youth is strongly supported by the church family.  All the work that you do for us is helping to build up the future leaders of our church and, more importantly, Christ’s kingdom.

Leadership Seminars E-mail

by Pastor Reuel

ImageThe “Lead Like Jesus,” seminars given last October by pastor Reuel were an eye opener for the forty participants who came.  The students learned about the HEART, HEAD, HANDS and HABITS of Jesus and had fruitful times of discussions with their small groups.  Far too many organizations and churches suffer because leaders chose to lead out of pride and fear rather than following the pattern of servant leadership laid down by the Master.   As Jesus taught the disciples he reminded that they are not to be like unbelieving gentiles who “lorded” it over their subjects.  His words of “not so among you” remain relevant to church leaders seeking maximum effectiveness and one we pray would characterize our church.
